January 2012 saw Bang on the Door (BotD) exhibit for a third year at the Hong Kong International Licensing Show. Following the success of 2011's show BotD signed Pacific Licensing as agents for Asia-Pacific & successfully licensed the key categories of stationery (Manhattan Manufacturing, Philippines), bedding & home furnishings (Choke Laup Boonchai, Thailand), apparel (Waranan Garment Company Ltd, Thailand) & stationery, bags, homewares & gifts (PT Daliny Guna Asaha, Indonesia).

Karen Duncan of BotD says, “The 2012 show was extremely busy with many exciting meetings & an increase in visitors to the stand from China.” Karen adds, “2011 was our first year with agency representation in Asia-Pacific & we have scored some fantastic licenses. 2012 promises even greater success as we grow & support the BotD programme in the region. Waranan in Thailand have just begun pre-production on the first 4 ranges for BotD for 2012 and the designs are just amazing! We're totally excited about seeing these products hit the market. With immense interest in FABric Animals & Groovy Chick we look forward to consolidating in presence in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Bang on the Door have also been in talks with an agent for India and are excited about the prospect of entering the Indian market. Karen Duncan explains, “BotD is one of the oldest art-led design brands in the licensing industry and has evolved over time in the markets where it has been exposed the longest, the UK & Europe. Our excitement comes from seeing the way that BotD has become a success internationally when we've entered new territories."

"The brand translates very easily to new territories – Brazil has been very strong for us over the last 5 years, as an example – and we are very excited to see this success replicated in India, where we have no doubt that BotD will be successful.”

Celebrating 26 years of licensing success, Bang on the Door (BotD) is one of the UK's most successful design-based properties. Created in 1986, Bang on the Door artists Karen Duncan and Samantha Stringle started out in a cold North London flat, printing their bold, colourful designs onto T-shirts and scarves which they later sold from a Camden market stall. The simple, humorous images of animals with black outlines and bold, flat colours proved popular with people of all ages and formed the basis of the distinctive Bang on the Door style.
