Leading sportswear brand Nike has taken a serious note of fainting incidences that took place a few days back at a plant owned by one of its suppliers, Sabrina (Cambodia) Manufacturing.
Nike executives will visit the garment factory based in Cambodia's Kampong Speu province and assess working conditions at the Taiwanese-owned plant with around 8,000 employees.
Besides, Nike representatives will also discuss potential violations of the worker's rights and health and safety provisions at the plant.
The executives will undertake a thorough review of all the aspects of working conditions at the apparel manufacturing plant with an intention to develop a comprehensive plan that can be introduced over time to improve working conditions.
However, a probe into the reasons behind the fainting incidents would be the main focus of the review team, as Nike is firm on finding a solution for the same.
Incidences of fainting of a small number of workers frequently occur in Cambodian garment production units, but they only come to light when some mass fainting incident occurs.
