Around 300 jobs that were cut following the closure of Rock Island based Seaford Clothing Company in 2009, are likely to be created again as the firm is set to reopen.
The credit, for revival of the unit that engaged in production of high-end suits, goes to the US$ 3.4 million grant extended by the State of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
The sum would be used for renovating the old building and to initially create 300 plus jobs. Once fully functional, the plant is likely to generate around 50 more job opportunities.
The renovation work for the factory would start within few days, but no official date for re-opening of the plant has been fixed yet.
Seaford Clothing, a subsidiary of HMX Group, came to limelight when it made custom-made clothing for President Obama during his election campaign in 2008.
