Social Enterprise Clothing, in partnership with Homeboy Industries led by Father Greg Boyle, is pleased to announce the inaugural shirt design for its Second Chance line. This shirt was designed by Defer, a pioneering member of the first generation of LA Graffiti crews, K2S, STN and KGB.

Alex developed his lyrical typographic work. Defer has been featured in the HaperCollins Book THE HISTORY OF AMERICAN GRAFFITI by Roger Gastman & Caleb Neelon. The shirt that he designed for Second Chance uses his iconic handstyle lettering to represent his home town.

Los Angeles represents the “placaso” style indigenous to the Los Angeles neighborhoods Defer grew up in. The shirt is black and the lettering is in four different color schemes. Defer's art can be found hanging in galleries in Los Angeles and New York selling for thousands of dollars. This shirt allows you to own a piece of Defer's art at an affordable price with a guarantee that 30% of the price of each shirt purchased online goes to support Homeboy Industries.

Father Greg Boyle and Homeboy Industries played an instrumental part in the transformation of Defer's life. Defer chose to design this shirt and to be an ongoing part of the Social Enterprise Clothing company to give back to Homeboy Industries.
