Fabric fair Tissu Premier to kicks off

13 Jun '12
4 min read

On 13 and 14 June, the second spring session of Tissu Premier, the international show for fashion fabrics and supplies, will showcase the collections of 130 hand-picked woven fabric specialists and fashion supplies manufacturers.

The latest Autumn-Winter 12/13 products and an updated Summer 13 offer will of course make up the bulk of the show. But, in keeping with its reputation for discovering novelty fabrics, Tissu Premier will also provide a longer-term Winter 13/14 colour and style preview to help buyers put together targeted, on-trend collections for the coming seasons.

The upcoming session of Tissu Premier focuses more strongly than ever on proximity sourcing. The show brings exhibitors from Europe’s Mediterranean countries (including 48% of French exhibitors) to designers and buyers in northern Europe, making it easy for buyers to complete their collections and find the best buys, with guaranteed delivery dates of under two months.

Highlights of the June 2012 men’s, women’s and childrenswear collections:

  • New exhibitors from Germany (prints and organic fabrics), Italy (hi-tech fabrics, prints, natural fabrics, jacquards, ribbons and buttons), Portugal (shirting) and Turkey (silk, linen, wool, dyed weaves and shirt prints).
  • A superb range of yarn-dyed and shirting fabrics to complement the existing offer of prints and knits.
  • Displays by knitted fabric manufacturers starting at the entrance.
  • An extensive trimmings and accessories section, with products given extra visibility in a dedicated forum: buttons, labels, zips, ribbons, trimmings, embroidery and lace, wadding and quilted fabrics, belts, covers etc.

A wealth of special events and fashion information:

Exhibitions

The hurly-burly of the ring, imagination and innovation: the two Tissu Premier textile exhibitions will be infused with a festive circus spirit.

  • On the walkway: Imagining the textiles of the future stages a kind of surrealist, upside-down vision of Nature to present the nominees for the Futurotextiles Awards for the most innovatively designed fabrics. The exhibition offers a sneak peek into the inauguration of CETI (Centre Européen des Textiles Innovants), a forthcoming international research centre and technological platform for advanced textiles, and celebrates two major events to take place there from 10 October: an international trade forum and the Futurotextiles exhibition.
  • At the entrance to the show, there will be a focus on movement and a nod to circus performances. The Petits d’hommes exhibition displays male wardrobe essentials by designers from northern France, tailored down to children’s sizes, with innovative materials given pride of place. This joint project involving Tissu Premier, GTTI, Fedustria, Maisons de Mode and UIT Nord showcases the skills of innovative woven fabric specialists.
