After its successful launch in the Australian market, UK’s online fashion
retailer
Boohoo is now focusing on tapping the New Zealand market. However, the
retailer is likely to face tough competition in the NZ market as other leading
retailers from the UK already mark their presence there.
Boohoo is one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers, offering
trend-led clothing at affordable prices.
Boohoo provides a wide selection of celebrity and catwalk inspired pieces and
since its launch in 2006, the company has grown at 137 percent a year till
date.
The online retailer currently ships its apparel products to the US and
Australia, besides the UK, and has now shifted its focus to NZ by launching a
customized site offering fashion-forward collections for men and women.
In addition to pricing the offerings in NZ dollars, the retailer is also
offering free shipping.
The retailer’s decision to launch an e-commerce website in NZ was
persuaded by a recent survey conducted by Nielsen New Zealand, which showed
that the country has over 1.6 million regular online shoppers, i.e. 49 percent
of the country’s overall population of above 18 years of age.
Also, it was found that 32 percent of the spending for online purchase was on
clothing, shoes and accessories.
