English Premier League football club Sunderland, nicknamed Black Cats, has entered into a two-year deal with not-for-profit group ‘Invest in Africa’, which will be the official sponsor of the new shirt of the Sunderland team.

On expiry of its five-year deal with Umbro, the club last month named German sportswear major Adidas as its new kit supplier.

The new kit, comprising a range of training wear and other items, would be officially unveiled on July 5. The kit would feature both the Adidas branding and Invest In Africa sponsorship.

The club entered into a deal with Invest in Africa, a partnership of companies formed by multinational oil company Tullow Oil to promote trade and business opportunities in Africa, in February, but the terms of the agreement were not clear.

However, as the club’s two-year kit sponsorship deal with Sunderland-based online gaming firm Tombola was due for expiry this summer, the club has brought in Invest in Africa as its new shirt sponsor.

Sunderland also announced that kitbag.com would take over operations of its three retail outlets, and also run its official online store.
