UniFirst named in America's top 50 apparel companies

Ranking at #16, UniFirst is joined on the list by popular clothing brands such as Nike (#7), Urban Outfitters (#13), Under Armour (#19), Gap (#26), American Eagle Outfitters (#33), and Levi Strauss (#45). Among uniform rental companies that made the cut, UniFirst ranked #1. 

"We make our work clothing comfortable and durable," says President and CEO Ronald Croatti. He points out that the company's UniWeave, SofTwill, UniWear, and Armorex FR workwear brands feature such extra details as roomier cuts, premium lined collars, and non-roll waistbands. "We focus our research and development on ways to make clothing that offers superior comfort for working men and women," Croatti says.

Croatti said providing well designed products along with dedicated customer service helped achieve the Apparel ranking. "Our core business model is that of a service company," explains Croatti.

"That means we have an ongoing relationship with our wearers because we're servicing their work uniform needs every week by laundering, pressing, and — if necessary — mending or replacing their uniforms to ensure they always present a professional image. We're in a unique situation because we have a  'field research lab' in the form of immediate and ongoing feedback from more than 1.5 million wearers, allowing us to continually build the best features and services into our products and delivery systems."

The recognition by Apparel is one of many on a growing list. UniFirst has been named to Forbes magazine's "Platinum 400," Boston Business Journal's "Massachusetts' Top 150 Companies," and has been featured on the CBS series "Undercover Boss."
