Net sales for the six months ended July 28, 2012 were $1.847 billion compared with $1.722 billion for the comparative period ended July 30, 2011, a 7.2% increase. These results reflect a 1.7% comparative store sales increase for the period.
Tom Kingsbury, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “I am very pleased with our 8.9% total sales increase and 2.9% comparative store sales increase for the quarter, which is on top of a 4.0% comparative store sales increase in the prior year.
“We continue to be especially pleased with the performance of those businesses that cater to our core female consumer: Ladies Apparel, Accessories and Ladies Shoes. I would like to thank our store and corporate teams for contributing to this result.”
As of July 28, 2012, the Company operated 482 stores in 44 states and Puerto Rico, principally under the name “Burlington Coat Factory”.
