In its continued effort to support future trades and crafts people across America, Carhartt, America's premium work wear brand since 1889, launched a campaign to support the SkillsUSA WorldTeam and raise funds to help the team in its effort to compete in the 2013 WorldSkills Competition (WSC) in Germany. Starting today through Sept. 16, Carhartt will donate $5 for select pants purchased online at www.carhartt.com.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. Its mission is to help its members become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

"Carhartt has supported SkillsUSA for a long time and we're privileged to be directly involved in raising money for the SkillsUSA WorldTeam in their quest to compete in Germany in 2013," said Tony Amboza, vice president marketing.  "Our consumers don't purchase Carhartt pants, they hire them to help get the job done, and now Carhartt pants can be hired to also help students compete and show off their skills to the world."

From construction and manufacturing along with farmers, ranchers and outdoor enthusiasts, Carhartt pants have become essential to the job site.  Like a carpenter relies on his hammer or a mason dependent on his trowel, hard-working men and women view Carhartt as a necessary tool.  Carhartt pants stand for rugged construction, innovative design and exceptional standards of quality, durability and comfort. The difference is in the details. Our pants have reinforced belt loops stitched to the side seams for extra reinforcement, a u-shape fit for comfort and ease of movement and triple needle stitching on the inseams for durability.

The Carhartt line of pants includes denim, twill, duck, khaki and ripstop.  They're made with premium fabric for durability and cut for easy movement.  The fronts feature deep front pocket bags that are sewn, turned, and sewn again for strength.  Heavy-duty YKK zippers are standard, as are leg openings sized to fit over boots.  Consumers can choose from a variety of fits, linings and styles, including double-fronts with cleanout bottoms to let dirt escape, which extends the life of the garment.  Workday proven, Carhartt pants are also weekend ready.

SkillsUSA is a member of WorldSkills — The International Vocational Training Organization headquartered in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This organization sponsors the biennial WSC. WorldSkills Germany will host the 42nd WorldSkills Competitions in Leipzig, Germany, July 2-7, 2013. The contest organizers are expecting more than 1,000 competitors from 53 countries competing in 43 official competitions and five demonstration contests.

Established in 1889, Carhartt is a global premium work wear brand with a rich heritage of developing rugged apparel for workers on and off the job.
