Pamela sounds more pessimistic when she said, “I don't have any expectations from councils or landlords. Both councils and landlords want to achieve high rents regardless of the economic climate forcing out small businesses. Unfortunately, what we are now seeing is large companies taking over the high street. What our high streets need is variety of small to medium size businesses, better parking facilities and lower parking charges if we have to pay at all”.

Revealing the current mood of UK consumers, who will directly influence sales on fashion streets of UK, Louise says, “I think UK consumers remain cautious. However, retailers are seeing clear patterns of increased spending at the beginning of each month when people have been paid and also when the weather improves or when new ranges come into the stores.

Consumers have never had such opportunities to buy at highly competitive prices and they are very clear about which brands they believe offer the right product at the right price”.
