Even in the midst of uncertain global economic climate, Indonesia’s leading apparel producing firm PT Pan Brothers Tbk managed to post positive export growth during the first half of the current year.
The publically-listed company’s exports for January-June 2012 hiked to Rp 1.09 trillion or US$ 113.27 million, showing a year-on-year rise of 25.6 percent. About 99.2 percent of the company’s overall net sales for the period came from exports.
The company’s exports to the EU market during the six-month the period grew at a year-on-year rate of 26.6 percent to Rp 519.71 billion, while its exports to other countries including Canada, Australia and Japan also grew almost two-fold to Rp 232.04 billion.
However, the company’s exports to the US plummeted slightly by 3.6 percent year-on-year to Rp 334.41 billion, during the period under review.
While exports to the EU accounted for 47.8 percent of overall apparel exports made by the frim during the review period, those to the US and other countries contributed 30.8 percent and 21.4 percent respectively.
Pan Brothers mainly engages in production of a range of high-end apparel items, with sportswear as its prime product, and has several global brands including Nike, Calvin Klein, Reebok, Adidas and Emporio Armani as its clients.
