Bangladesh RMG makers to pay advance salary before Eid

Readymade garment makers in Bangladesh will pay festival bonus and a part of current month’s salary to their employees prior to the Eid-ul-Azha on October 27.
Normally, workers in Bangladeshi garment units receive their salaries during the first week of every month.
This time, union leaders had demanded a full month’s salary to be paid in advance by October 20, in view of the Eid festival. But, after consultation with the representatives of the unions, garment unit owners have decided to pay a part of the workers’ October salary by October 24, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) said.
