The donation includes more than$200,000 in cash donations from Associates to a special fund for impacted colleagues, as well as an $8,500 cash donation from customers to the Canadian Red Cross and a $155,000 in-kind donation of Home Studio product to help communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Associates in stores and head office locations came together to hold bake sales, raffles, garage sales and sample sales to help raise funds for their fellow colleagues and communities impacted. One store even donated their entire holiday party fund to the cause. The company ran a “Donate your HBC Rewards points” program, where Associates and customers donated their Rewards points in stores, by phone and online toward the relief efforts.
“Our Associates have a history of jumping in and lending their support to colleagues and communities in need,” says Richard Baker, Governor & CEO, Hudson’s Bay Company. “The generosity and compassion shown by everyone in the company exemplifies the culture of the HBC family, and continues our tradition of supporting the communities where we operate.”
