Nuance bags luxury store license at Mumbai airport

The Nuance Group is pleased to announce that it has been awarded, in partnership with Shoppers Stop Limited, the Fashion, Luxury and Lifestyle concession at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, India. The concession covers 16 concept stores from leading global premium and luxury brands to be located in the new Terminal 2, with a total of 1’247 square metres of retail space. Commencing on 1st of September 2013, the concession will have a ten year term.

Welcoming this announcement, Roberto Graziani, President & CEO, The Nuance Group, comments: “We are very please to expand our business to Mumbai. Nuance started its operations in India about six years ago, and we have rapidly gained a solid understanding of the region. This new agreement further strengthens our business in India, the market where we are determined to grow our presence.”

Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the main airport in Mumbai and India’s second biggest airport in terms of overall passenger traffic. The new terminal is estimated to open by the last quarter of 2013 and after being opened it will serve about 40 million passengers each year. With its modern design and unique atmosphere, the airport will create an inspiring experience and a welcoming gateway to Mumbai and India.

We have done detailed customer interviews across various profiles and proposed brands & concepts to be able to offer a portfolio that appeals to the needs of passengers travelling through this airport. The choice of stores will comprise of a mix of premium and luxury multi- and mono-brand concepts, including our much liked women’s leather accessories store, Atelier.”

Rajeev Jain, CEO, MIAL says: “Duty free shopping is a significant component of passenger experience at any world-class airport. We would like to provide passengers at CSIA with a truly world-class shopping experience, across brands, product variety and price points. This is also in line with our stated endeavor to take CSIA to international standards.”

Started in 2006, Nuance, through its joint venture with Shoppers Stop Ltd, has been present in the Indian travel retail market for six years now. The company currently operates duty free shops at the arrival and departure halls at the Bengaluru International Airport.
