Frederick's celebrates 67 years of black lingerie

When Frederick Mellinger founded Frederick's of Hollywood in 1946, he wasn't afraid to take risks. He established a reputation for pushing fashion boundaries when he introduced black lingerie to the United States.

It would become one of the intimate apparel industry's most coveted, must-have staples. To honor the heritage of fashion's favorite unmentionable, Frederick's is celebrating 67 years of black lingerie.

In commemoration of the anniversary, the lingerie purveyor is hosting a specially curated online shop, The Black Lingerie Legacy Collection. The selection is a testament to the vision and creativity that established the Frederick's name as a preeminent brand in intimate apparel.

The Black Lingerie Legacy Collection features some of Frederick's most popular styles. The look and feel is luxurious. The fit is perfection. The designs are ultra-sexy.

To illustrate the evolution of black lingerie from a naughty taboo to a staple in every stylish woman's wardrobe, Frederick's has engaged four West Coast fashion bloggers to participate in the "Black Lingerie Blogger Challenge". 

Each blogger was given items from the Legacy Collection and challenged to style them as outerwear. Frederick's is also releasing a must-see video which pays homage to 67 years of seductive black lingerie.

"We are very proud of our heritage," said Frederick's of Hollywood Chief Marketing Officer, Tracy McCourt. "It's exciting to be able to claim such a groundbreaking moment in fashion history."
