British high-street retailer River Island is the latest international label to step into the burgeoning Australian apparel market.

The fashion brand, which has recently unveiled its Australia-exclusive online store au.riverisland.com, is now set to open it’s first-ever bricks-and-mortar outlet in the country.

The London-based clothier’s newly launched website will offer its entire fashion range, including the much talked about Rihanna collection.

In entering Australia, the label is following its fellow fast fashion operators, such as Topshop, Asos and Zara, who have been able to establish successful businesses in the country.

Other well-reputed brands like the Swedish multinational retail-clothing company H&M and the American fashion label Urban Outfitters are also prepping up to enter the country in the coming months.

The sudden interest of global brands in the Australian market is in sync with the findings of a recent report released by a Melbourne-based research company named IBISWorld.

According to the report, the Australian retail sector is expected to experience a boom, due to a more relaxed spending approach of the shoppers, in the next five years.
