Dentelle de Calais lace on display at Mode City

This event, organised jointly with the Chambre Nationale des Détaillants en Lingerie, will take place in the Agora, just in front of the CNDL stand. The great names in lace from Calais and Caudry exhibiting at Interfilière: Codentel, Desseilles Laces, Noyon Dentelle/Darquer and Solstiss, will participate.

During the run of the fair an exclusive Dentelle de Calais forum will be presenting the know-how, creativity and richness of this offer for lingerie: high quality “Made in France” lace resolutely facing the future.

A round table with for theme, “Dentelle de Calais , an exceptional lace for luxurious lingerie” chaired by Créations Lingerie International editor Valérie Charier, will be held at 11.15 am on Sunday, with representatives of the major brands of lingerie and LYCRA  fibre.

There will be discussions about the specific features and infinite potential of this lace, which due to its very particular technique, the Leavers , allied to the savoir-faire of master lacemakers since the XIX century, remains unequalled as the only one to imitate the hand lacemakers’gestures.

It will of course provide the occasion to discover the most recent innovations and how new technologies such as LYCRA  BEAUTY, together with high performance finishes endow it with avant-garde characteristics in phase with the current expectations of lingerie brands and their consumers in terms of beauty, wellbeing and ease of use.

To supplement this approach a “teaching” document with be distributed. It will retrace the fine history of Dentelle de Calais and shine light on the hidden face of the various stages of its manufacture in workshops as well as the skills and knowledge of an artistic trade that has been mastered over nearly 200 years and is now famous the world over. Finally, it will dwell on the various aspects that make this unique lace at once sophisticated, pleasant to wear and at the cutting edge of modernity.

The Fédération Française des Dentelles et Broderies’partners for this event are the Chambre Nationale des Détaillants en Lingerie, Eurovet/ Mode City Paris Salon International de la Lingerie and Swimwear/Interfilière, the Fédération de la Maille et de la Lingerie, INVISTA for LYCRA fiber and the Cité Internationale de la Dentelle et de la Mode de Calais.
