CECOTEX to set up Spanish Confederation of Fashion

The newly formed Spanish Confederation of Trade Textile and Fashion (CECOTEX) would formally establish the Spanish Confederation of Fashion on July 4, 2013, according to Modaes.es report.

The new association would bring together business associations related to clothing, knitwear, accessories, footwear and trade.

CECOTEX has been founded by the Spanish Business Association for Textile Trades and Complements (ACOTEX), the Textile Merchants’ Guild of Valencia Province (GREGOTEX), the Confederation of Textile Industries in Galicia (COINTEGA), and the Catalunya Textile and Fashion Cluster (ACTM).

ACOTEX has been the driving force behind the formation of CECOTEX, whose main objective is to unite and protect the interests of the textile and fashion industry at national level in Spain

In addition to CECOTEX, the proposed Spanish Confederation of Fashion would include the Spanish Federation of Apparel Manufacturers (Fedecon), the Spanish Association of Knitwear Manufacturers (AEGP), and the Spanish Association of Leather Manufacturers (Asefma).

The Federation of Spanish Footwear Industries (FICE), which has recently changed its mind, would now also be a part of the proposed Confederation.

It is not yet decided as to who will head the Spanish Confederation of Fashion, but Mr. Angel Asensio, president of Fedecon is most likely to head it, according to Modaes.es.
