DownEast Basics, a high-style, low-price retailer that specializes in trendy fashions as well as modest clothing, previewed its Fall 2013 Collection for women, teens and girls. This year’s fall line is its largest ever and incorporates many fashion trends being seen on the runways of top designers – but at DownEast’s famously affordable prices.

“Our fashion-forward attitude is reflected in our Fall 2013 Collection, which is filled with eye-catching looks that are also easy to wear,” said Jonathan Freedman, DownEast’s VP of Apparel. “The line has the high-end styles that have gotten us attention in publications like O Magazine, at prices that let shoppers buy much, much more.”

The DownEast Basics “boutique on a budget” concept is perennially popular among savvy shoppers. The brand continues to be based on well-priced, wardrobe-building essentials combined with key new trends that can be layered, mixed and matched.

Freedman talks about some of the top trends showing up in DownEast’s Fall 2013 Collection:

Monochromatic Jewel Tones. “We’re saying goodbye to the pastels and neons of summer and moving to rich jewel tones – deep purple and teal are especially hot this fall. Wearing an outfit that is one color, or that pairs two solid colors, is also a fashion ‘yes.’ To infuse your wardrobe with these must-have fall shades, we suggest our Colorblock Sweater and Boom Boom Skinny Jean.”

Golden Yellow. “Another big, big color this season is golden yellow – it’s been seen on the runways of designers like Jonathan Saunders and Chloé. To get the look for less, try our stylish High Demand Top and Go for Gold Dress.”

Romantic Details. “If you like feeling feminine, you’ll be thrilled by the current trend toward lace, pretty detailing on collars, and fuller shoulders and sleeves. Our Sweet Scallop Top and Fancy Free Top are soft, romantic choices.”

Small Prints: “Summer was the time for big chevrons and bold stripes – prints this fall are much more subtle. Delicate animal prints also add a novelty touch. We recommend our McIntosh Top, Busy Birds Blouse and Elephants on Parade Top.”

Mid-Century Career Girl Style. “Maybe it’s inspired by Mad Men, but we love this trend that’s reminiscent of office clothes from the 1950s and early 1960s – including more structured, tailored skirts. This nostalgic style has shown up on the runways of Prada and Miu Miu. Our Belfast Blazer and Ponte Pencil Skirt will help you achieve the look.”
