After enduring a phase of downfall, the Swedish clothing industry is now back on revival track. This is apparent as clothing sales continued its rising spree for the third consecutive month in June 2013.

According to the data released by industry association Swedish Trade Style, the clothing sector’s sales grew by 1.6 percent during June 2013 over May 2013.

During May 2013, the sales rose by 2.7 percent month-on-month, while in April 2013 the rise was measured at 4.3 percent month-on-month.

Despite the encouraging trend witnessed over past the three months, overall apparel sales dipped by 0.5 percent during the first half of the ongoing year as compared to January-June 2012.

Discussing the apparel sales trend during a press meet, branch chairman of the Swedish Trade Revival Mikael Sandstrom noted that after a bad year and the worse phase in March this year, the revival trend that started since April 2013 with spring sales, has put the industry back on track.

The positive trend continued in May with summer sales on a rise and again in June as more and more people started getting tax refunds during the month.

Highlighting one more reason for the upward trend, he said changing fashion trends and enhanced purchasing power are also making people to upgrade their wardrobes with more colourful clothes, which is the trend for fall collections.
