Technology plays big role in apparel business

Clothing is one of the basic needs of human beings all over the world and people of today are frequently in search of new and innovative garments in the market. So in order to fulfill the changing demand of the consumers as well as to excel in the rapidly competitive sector, the adoption of new and innovative technologies has become a necessity for the garment makers and retailers worldwide.

In a conversation with fibre2fashion, Mr. Philip Moylan, sales and marketing manager at Eurostop, a leading supplier of retail management and EPOS solutions for the fashion, said, “The world is a lot smaller with the advent of technology and it reduces the time duration from apparel manufacturing to the delivery of finished goods.”

“Wholesalers already benefit with improved design of merchandise with less wastage and costs as there are many mature systems that allow product lifecycle management, job costing, customer relationship management, etc. But unfortunately wholesalers are squeezed by the retailers for a reduction in price because of market conditions,” he adds.

According to Zivame.com, premier online lingerie store in India, it is not only garment sector, but technology has a big role to play in designing and manufacturing of lingerie, too.

Mr. Sanjay Shroff, founder, director and CEO of Styletag.com, an online retailer of luxury garments, said, “Technology has the role of innovation, engagement and delivery in online retail. It is the be-all and the backbone of e-commerce.”
