Designer Marios Schwab named UK Lingerie Awards judge

The Greco-Austrian designer has been one of the hottest names in British womenswear since he launched his London-based fashion label in 2005, and he has recently turned his attention to the lingerie industry, winning over buyers with his Kallisti collection.

The range was first presented to members of the fashion press during London Fashion Week in September 2012 and has since launched on ASOS.com, forming part of the online store’s designer platform, ASOS Inc.

Combining his conceptually driven and unashamedly theoretical approach to fashion with a childhood surrounded by the lingerie industry – his father was a lingerie engineer – Schwab is superbly placed to judge the work of brands and retailers at the UK Lingerie Awards 2013, which will take place at Covent Garden’s Freemasons’ Hall on December 4.

Schwab says: “I am delighted to be taking part in the Lingerie Insight judging panel this year; it is an exciting new industry for me to be involved in since the launch of the Kallisti lingerie range earlier this year. It is exciting to see behind the scenes of the awards and decision making for each category."

The UK Lingerie Awards, in association with Fashion Forms, has doubled in size for 2013, with three new categories – Best Boudoir Brand of the Year, Best Regional Department Store of the Year and Best Lounge/Nightwear Brand of the Year – added to the programme.

Applications for the Awards opened on August 28. Entrants can find out how to apply via the Awards’ website, where they can also learn about previous winners and key partners.

Schwab will join a panel of judges, all of whom are key players in the intimates industry at the Awards. A full list of the judges’ names will be announced in the coming weeks.
