Labelexpo Europe will host the inaugural digital label and package printing master class. Designed for label and package printing converters considering or preparing to invest in a digital printing capability for the first time, the half-day master class will take place on 27 September.

Mike Fairley, director, strategic development at Labelexpo Global Series, will be joined by a number of leading industry experts as they explore various topics including the latest technologies, main printing processes and subjects including workflow and color management.

Christian Menegon from Hewlett-Packard Indigo is joined by Xeikon’s Filip Weymans, EFI’s Stephen Emery and Sharon Rothschild from Landa Digital Printing as they compare the technologies and processes available. Evaluating liquid toner, dry toner, inkjet and nanographic printing, they will also look at various press configurations: stand alone, in line, integrated combination and digital.

Label Traxx’s Andrew McKerlie will highlight the importance of pre-press and workflow automation while Jan De Roeck from Esko will give an overview of pre-press systems and an insight into strategies for profitable digital printing. Kunhao Wang from Avery Dennison will share her expertise in substrate selection and print quality.

A second panel of experts including Keith Montgomery of AB Graphic International, Spartanic’s Mike Bacon, James Boughton from Edale and Highcon’s Nigel Tracey will consider digital print finishing for labels and cartons. They will discuss in line and off-line label finishing, applications and range of equipment options as well as the benefits and solutions of the laser die cutting of labels.
