Peru's Gammara contest winners to partake in global fairs

Winners of Peru's Gammara Produce II contest, organized by the Peruvian Ministry of Production, would be given the chance to participate in the next edition of Colombian and Peruvian international fairs scheduled to be held in 2014.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the winners would be given the chance to participate in Colombiamoda and Peru Moda next year and present their winning collections to investors from different countries.

The contest organized by the Ministry was aimed at recognizing the productive development of Peru’s Gammara apparel emporium entrepreneurs, especially highlighting their creativity and innovation, in order to increase competitiveness among them.

Among the fifteen finalists who showcased their collections during a fashion show organized at the Expotextil Peru 2013, Eddy Valle’s menswear collection won the first prize, Elmira Cabellos’ children’s clothing was awarded the second position, and Donato Cardenas’ womenswear collection swooped up the third prize.

According to the Ministry, the winner of the first prize would be given a chance to have a booth in Colombiamoda and Peru Moda, as well as a business internship with a New York based apparel manufacturer.

The second place winner would also be given the chance to have booths at both the fairs and also receives an internship with a New York based apparel technology firm, whereas the third place winner gets an industrial machine along with the chance to present his collection at the international fairs.

The contest began in June 2013, with over 1,850 Gammara entrepreneurs competing with each other by showcasing their latest clothing collections.
