Proexport Colombia to host 50th business forum from Feb 19
Dec '13
The 50th edition of the Business Matchmaking Forum, the biggest and most prominent event to facilitate business affairs in Colombia, organized by the Colombian agency for Promotion of Tourism, Investment and Exports (Proexport) would be held from February 19 to 20, in the city of Bogota.
According to a statement issued by Proexport, this year’s edition would have 1,000 buyers from 30 different countries and 2,000 exporters, exporting various products including apparel, participating in the forum.
During the two-day business forum, apparel manufacturers would be exhibiting various products such as menswear, womenswear, outerwear, innerwear, sportswear, childrenswear, swimwear, uniforms and home textiles.
Maria Claudia Lacouture, president of Proexport, said this year Proexport aims to break all kinds of records by generating business during the two-day forum. The idea is to gather 3,000 companies under a roof to negotiate and generate trade deals, she added.
According to the Proexport official, 2,000 Colombian firms would be partaking in the event representing various sectors, including apparel.
Ms. Lacouture said that another objective of the 50th Business Matchmaking Forum is to showcase international firms how Colombian entrepreneurs have evolved with the organization of the event. The participation from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has also increased at the forum, as the last edition held in the European Union (EU) had 88 percent of SMEs partaking in the event, she added.
