Milan gears up for footwear fair 'the MICAM'

After bidding adieu to a dazzling showcase of fall ready-to-wear clothing lines, the Italian fashion capital Milan is now gearing up for its forthcoming footwear trade fair ‘the MICAM’.

Slated to take place from March 2 to 5, 2014, the event will serve as a meeting platform for various stakeholders of shoe industry, including manufacturers, retailers, buyers, representatives, importers and wholesalers from nearly 30 countries.

Expected to be attended by about 40,000 local and foreign visitors, the event will feature latest autumn-winter 2014-2015 footwear, handbag and other animal skin made accessory collections by more than 1,589 international companies.

Other than displaying exhibits from shoe designers like Patrizia Pepe and Paris Hilton, the fair will also set up the Foot Rocker Hall of Fame museum, which will showcase the exotic footwear designs worn by the greatest rock stars of all times.

Co-organized by the bi-weekly politics and popular culture magazine Rolling Stone, the museum space will feature designs created by brands like Converse, Nike, Adidas, Dr. Martens, Clarks, Puma, Repetto and Onitsuka Tiger.

Apart from the shoe exhibiting stalls, the four-day-long event will also host the young aspiring shoe designers’ contest Rock Vs Rap: The Battle Soles.

Hosted twice a year, the MICAM, which covers an exhibition area of over 70,000 square meters, explores the role of footwear in everyday activities such as work, leisure and family.

To connect manufacturers and suppliers with buying houses and fashion brands, Fibre2fashion.com is coming up with an online fair on Leather “Skin Show 2014” scheduled in Mid March-2014.
