Sri Lanka President launches 'Sri Lanka Fast Growth 25'

“The United States of America is Sri Lanka's largest export market. Over the years Sri Lankan companies have been recognised by US buyers as being reliable, ethical, compliant and sustainable - in other words Exemplary Citizens of the Corporate World. This has been achieved in spite of the terrible period we had to face pre-2009,” said Ashroff Omar, CEO of Brandix and Founding Chairman of Sri Lanka Apparel.

“Now that we have peace, it is time we change gears and aspire to significantly grow trade volumes between our countries. I am sure that the large corporates are already marching forward. However, our President’s vision is that the new and upcoming Entrepreneurs in all parts of the island and across all industries should have a fast-track to growth. The SriLanka25 we are launching today meets this criteria as the focus is on SME’s and it straddles all business sectors.”

Issuing a statement in conjunction with the launch, Professor Michael Porter of Harvard Business School, who was described by the Times of London as the world’s “most influential management guru,” and is widely regarded as the foremost authority on company and country competitiveness, said “The SriLanka25 companies, led by dynamic men and women, represent the leading edge of a new approach to Sri Lanka’s competitiveness.”

The official launch of the SriLanka25 network was jointly sponsored by top corporates such as John Keells Holdings, Access Group, Maliban Garments, Omega Line, Timex Garments, Hirdaramani Industries, MAS Holdings and Brandix Lanka.
