ATDC Lean Manufacturing Seminar sees top industry speakers

"The Joint effort of ATDC with National Productivity Council (NPC) to promote the “Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme” in various Apparel Cluster across India indicates ATDCs resolve to foster newerapproaches to improve productivity & Higher efficiencies of the apparel manufacturing units through Lean management and Industrial Engineering Techniques.”

Sri. Hari Kapoor, Vice Chairman, ATDC, mentioned that lean highlights the removal of waste and extras in terms of Space, Technology and System related to both manufacturing and selling and extended his gratitude to Sri Harbhajan Singh, I.A.S., Director General, NPC and the team from National Productivity Council(NPC) who have taken up the implementation and monitoring of the pilot phase of the Lean Manufacturing Competiveness Scheme (LMCS)”. 
 
Sri. H.K.L. Magu, Chairman F&B, AEPC emphasized that- “The Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme being offered by National Productivity Council could be very useful to apparel industry in this context as it offers considerable support to get best Consultants to advice and handhold the units. As ATDC & NPC today join hands and take the first step in spreading awareness on the “LEAN MANUFACTURING SCHEME” to be implemented in several apparel cluster spread all over the country I wish this initiative all success”.
 
Sri. Harbhajan Singh IAS, DG NPC, gave a perspective of the lean manufacturing scheme especially its relevance in context of the global competiveness. He also mentioned that 350 clusters wasn’t a limit and more number of clusters could be formed if required. He brought forth that during the implementation of the scheme, other areas would also be addressed and facilities may be provided.
 
Sri. Anil Peshawari, Vice President, Noida Apparel Export Cluster & Managing Director, Meenu Creations, shared the experience of implementation of the scheme (Pilot Phase) in Noida Apparel Export Cluster and emphasized on the role of mindset in implementation of any schemes, he added that the Owners & top management play a critical role in spearheading the lean management implementation and should not be resistant to change. He also said that in clusters the organizations motivate each other to adopt lean manufacturing techniques.
 
Following the inaugural session, the ‘Technical Session’ saw participation of key speakers, Shri M.L. Suryaprakash, Director, NIMU who shared details of the Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme & its benefits to Manufacturing Units, Ms Pooja Makhija, Lean Manufacturing Consultant shared the Role of Lean manufacturing in Apparel Sector, along with case studies from the Pilot Phase clusters & Bangladesh. Mr. Nimesh Dave, Lean Manufacturing Consultant, Gurgaon, presented various case studies showcasing how the companies have been helped and achieved target just by adoption of simple Lean Manufacturing techniques. 
 
The seminar was well attended by industry members, industrial engineers, production supervisors from the Apparel Industry in Delhi/ NCR.
