Fresh Produce & RFC Media launch internet radio station

Fresh Produce, a leading apparel brand for women, and RFC Media, a company that produces and delivers branded digital content, have launched “Radio in Color”, an internet radio station. The station is currently available on the Fresh Produce website via the tuneIN mobile app and on Fresh Produce’s Facebook page throughout the month of June.

The station launched in conjunction with Fresh Produce’s 30th birthday. Since Fresh Produce’s first t-shirt sale at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, it has been committed to helping women shine and live colorful and vibrant lives. Radio in Color is a celebration of that commitment and a way to strengthen Fresh Produce’s connection with its customers.

“A lot of brands stream music online or have their own playlists on iTunes, Pandora and Spotify, but playlists get sterile over time and there is no movement, no personal touch or uniqueness,” says John Harris, Chief Marketing Officer at Fresh Produce. “As both an entertainment and marketing medium, radio has become an extremely fragmented and diluted platform. With RFC Media’s help, we believe we succeeded in creating a better way to marry music with branded, authentic content that speaks directly to our Fresh Produce community.”

Radio in Color is currently streaming a combination of brand-reflective music and interviews with Fresh Produce founder and chief brand officer Mary Ellen Vernon. She shares her personal experiences and thoughts through discussions about color, Fresh Produce’s roots and the inspiration behind the brand.

“For Fresh Produce we created custom content that goes deeper than a branded playlist,” says Pat Fant, Chief Operating Officer of RFC Media. “We worked closely with Fresh Produce to recreate the feel and voice of the brand by hand-picking a DJ, helping Mary Ellen tell her story through original content, and building a playlist that compliments the look and feel of the brand. As a result, Radio in Color expresses Fresh Produce’s vibrant, colorful lifestyle and authenticity beautifully.”

“Fresh Produce is more than just a pretty dress. We want to help women walk tall and feel comfortable and confident,” says Mary Ellen Vernon, Founder and Chief Brand Officer of Fresh Produce. “Giving our brand a voice through radio is a beautiful way to do that. Inspiring music lifts up the Fresh Produce woman and allows us to walk side-by-side with them through their day.”

Fresh Produce is also expanding its voice online on its blog, The Spot, named after a restaurant in La Jolla, Calif. where Vernon came up with the name “Fresh Produce”. The blog goes beyond industry postings and style updates by complimenting the lifestyles of the women the brand embodies. Regular postings range from original videos, thoughts and stories from Vernon, and creative ways and ideas to help women live vibrant and colorful lives. The blog is yet another way the brand is looking to strengthen its value and connection with women.

Fresh Produce began as an idea that evolved into a lifestyle for all women who want to enjoy vibrant colors, season-less prints and effortless style all year round. As the company embarks on its next 30 years, it continues its evolution through the addition of new styles, continuous enhancements to the online experience and through the opening of new company-owned retail locations in the United States.
