Eastern Europe has 248 million inhabitants, while only 54.4 per cent have internet, the lowest among all European regions and only 34 million purchase something online.
1.2 billion people out of the 7.2 billion in the world, shop online and spent €1,173.5 billion in 2013, again of which, one-third was spent in Europe.#
However, 2013 internet sales grew massively by 47 per cent over 2012 to reach €19.3 billion, of which a major portion €15.5 billion came from Russia alone.
Russia was followed by Ukraine with €1.85 billion and Romania at €1.04 billion euro, with other countries in the region throwing up negligible numbers. (AR)
