The eastern region office of Ghana Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GTDA) is set to construct a garment factory in the regional capital city of Koforidua, reported Ghana News Agency.

Aiming to create employment opportunities for the Ghanaian youth, the manufacturing unit, which will be built on an area of two acres, will produce clothing for both export and domestic market.

The facility is an answer to mitigate the unemployment problem faced by skilled workers who struggle to start their own businesses after the completion of their respective training programmes, according to the association’s eastern regional secretary, Emmanuel Kissi.

Apart from the factory, the yet-to-be-built two-storey building would also include offices as well as accommodation for key staff members.

GTDA offers vocational courses in dress cutting, designing as well as finishing. (PB)
