Indian online marketplace Snapdeal has named Bollywood actor Aamir Khan as its brand envoy and will launch him through a campaign on television and online.

According to media reports, Leo Burnett will design the campaign, which has won a portion of Snapdeal’s creative account.

Snapdeal is following in the footsteps of other Indian online retailers who have roped in celebrities and films stars to promote their business.

For instance, fashion retailer Myntra has Ranbeer Singh, Yepme has Shah Rukh Khan, Jabong has named Yami Gautam and Lime Road has roped in Neha Dhupia as brand ambassador.

Earlier in October 2014, Snapdeal had raised Rs 3,800 crore from Japan’s SoftBank and is currently rumoured to be in talks with Alibaba for a record funding.

In the past, Aaamir Khan has been associated with various brands like Samsung, Titan, Tata Sky, Coca Cola, Godrej, etc. (AR)
