Security in various industrial hubs is a matter of concern for apparel industry inspite of security forces provided by Government.
Industry leaders voiced their apprehensions following three days of destruction in garment industry, with manufacturing operations yet to restart.
"We need permanent solution to overcome this situation," said Abdus Salam Murshedy, acting President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at a press conference.
Instead of temporary security arrangements in apparel industrial areas, a special police force of around 1,000 personnel is exclusively needed for apparel sector, stated BGMEA leaders.
They have also opined that the incident should be investigated by an inquiry commission headed by a high court judge.
