Apparel output in 2007 sees strong growth

The latest released reports from National Bureau of Statistics show that China's total apparel output in December 2007 reached 1.977 billion pieces, up 12.64 percent from November, and 20.42 percent from the same time last year.
Of the total, production of woven apparel touched 941 million pieces, a growth of 17.27 percent from November, and up 18.12 percent from the corresponding time of prior year.
Knitted apparel output reached 1.035 billion pieces, a rise of 8.74 percent from the previous month, an increase of 23.42 percent from the same time last year.
During the whole last year, China's total apparel production completed almost 20.2 billion pieces, representing a growth of 15.04 percent from the same time last year.
In these, woven garment production accumulated at 9.556 billion, up 14.33 percent on year, the growth rate was 1.85 percentage points higher than that of the previous year. Knitted apparel output scored 10.722 billion pieces, up 15.68 percent on year, 4.5 percentage points higher in increase from last year.
