PPGL has announced that the Postie+ Replenishment operation will move from Westport to Christchurch and we are undertaking a strategic review of the Arbuckles chain including reviewing interest shown by external parties.
The move of the replenishment operation from Westport has been part of a major analysis of apparel distribution and this activity will now join the other two key operations, Schooltex and Initial allocations, at Christchurch in a single distribution centre managed by a third party supplier Contract Logistics. The expected savings are more than $2m over the next three years.
The Arbuckles chain has had a difficult time fitting into the PPGL stable of brands and whilst it is showing signs of getting the right marketing message to customers the group does not see Manchester as a core product in the same way as apparel.
The board is committed to continue growing the group and are presently looking at business plans for a new apparel brand.
