Production of suit moves up

According to the latest data released by National Bureau of Statistics, in the month of December, country's apparel production has seen a significant growth.

Among the total, suit and suit set production reached 56.61 million pieces, increasing by nearly 15 percent over the previous month, and up 27.62 percent year-on-year.

During the whole year 2007, suit and suit set output completed 603.55 million pieces, representing a growth of 14.81 percent from 2006.

In this period, the production of these apparels was concentrated mostly in southeast coastal provinces and cities. Among them, Jiangsu Province stood at the first place producing 13.02 million pieces, rendering a boost of 16.01 percent over November. Guangdong Province achieved 1.88 percent rise month-on-month. Zhejiang at the same time registered a growth of 41.48 percent.

Jiangsu remained the largest producer of suits and suit sets in China during 2007, with cumulative production of over 147 million pieces, accounting for 24.41 percent of China's total output.

Guangdong Province took the second lead with overall production of almost 135 million pieces, acquiring a share of 22.40 percent. Collectively, Zhejiang, Shandong and Fujian Provinces attained a share of 13.62, 8.42, and 5.81 percent, respectively.
