IAM launches 2nd batch of 'Apparel Marketing & Merchandising'

The speakers included Mr. Vinod Kaul, Chairman, RVG New Vision; Mr. Abhay Gupta, Vice President Marketing, AIE Apparels Pvt. Ltd and Mr. Mohit Oberoi, Vice President, Polaris Retail India Ltd. These renowned industry speakers enthralled the students with their experiences.

Mr. Vinod Kaul dealt with the topic of “Future of Indian Apparel Retail in a Global Market”. He spoke at length about the domestic market, organised Retailing, high growth segments, trend in Indian fashion retailing, markets and characteristics, apparel categories like men's wear, women's wear, intimate wear, Ethnic wear, kids wear, uniforms etc.

Mr. Abhay Gupta spoke on the topic of “Career opportunities in the Apparel Marketing & Merchandising fields”. Mr. Mohit Oberoi explained the Role of IT in the Apparel Industry.

He explained how the Apparel industry starts its working with the procurement, and ends it with the distribution to right customer at right time with promotion at right pricing.

The Indian retail industry is 95% unorganized and only 5% organized. With the help of IT softwares one can select the application which is saleable and work more efficiently.

The Institute proposes to announce programmes for the academic year 2008 in the functional areas of apparel management, technology & design.

The admission process is to commence in March 2008 for programmes commencing in July 2008. Besides it, IAM has announced part time customized programmes for working professionals in the areas of total quality management, corporate social responsibility, fashion forecasting etc.

IAM proposes to offer management development programmes for working executives of apparel industry in areas including Fashion Merchandising, International Marketing, Retail Training and Production, Vendor Management, productivity, industrial engineering, Quality Assurance and Compliance etc in near future.

IAM is committed towards growth of Indian apparel industry and its strong industry linkages will provide career heights to students who have enrolled under programmes or who wish to join the programmes offered by the institute.

Due to strong industry linkages it will provide hands on training with industry experts along with internships, interactions with professionals from the industry. The interaction will enable professionals in their growth as well as become engine of growth for apparel industry.
