Indian garment manufacturers have been buying various products from China for a long time, now they have recognized that it is also a profitable market which can bring a lot of financial gain to them.
Looking into the lucrative opportunities, some Indian enterprises like Koutons, Lilliput and Spykar have planned to set up joint venture companies in China.
Lilliput, a children garment manufacturing brand, purchases around 20 percent of its material from China. Now, it intends to establish six franchise outlets in China through collaboration, to make its presence felt among local comsumers.
According to Rahul Mehta, Chairman of The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), earlier, Indian companies did not consider China as a potential export market. Now, looking into increasing purchasing power of the consumer and increasing demand for the Indian products in the region, CMAI has planned to send 10 to 12 garment brands to get into Chinese market and observe response of consumers towards Indian labels.
