In a bid to strike a cord with cricket crazy Indians, British designer label Savile Row is all set to attract the attention of fashionistas. The brand will design off-field apparels for players of eight teams of Indian Cricket League (ICL).
Fibre2fashion had the privilege to contact Ms Reetika Mehra Dalal, the Executive Head of Savile Row, under the umbrella of Forbes brand.
Answering questions, Ms Dalal told, “We are glad that all the players of ICL will be wearing our casual line which includes jeans, T-Shirts. Custom-made formal wear of the officials like commentators & referees will also be designed by us. Keeping the summer season in mind, linen suits and cotton jackets, mostly in light colours, would be provided to them.
Talking about this particular assignment, Ms Mehra said, “This prestigious project will be over by April 6, and another series is lining up to open by the end of June.
"This association will prove beneficial for us as the young cricketers will be donning this line and most Indians have a tendency to worship them as their idols, it will give a new meaning to this innovative collection. Having a customer like Kapil Dev, is a prize in itself.”
Further Reetika asserted, “Savile Row is planning to foray into denim wear segment by August this year, so test-run with the teams of ICL will surely bring goodwill to the company.”
While discussing about the plans for expansion in retail, she divulged, “We plan to open up 85 to 100 selling points by the end of this year through Exclusive Brand Outlets / Multi Brand Outlets and Departmental Stores.
