One of the youngest women ever named president of a publicly-traded company, Ms. Syms has stewarded SYMS Corp since 1983. Founded in 1958 by her father Sy Syms, the leading "off-price" retailer sells designer clothing at close to wholesale prices in 33 stores nationwide.
SYMS Corp's mantra, "An Educated Consumer Is Our Best Customer," has informed the business' strategy since inception.
Ms. Syms is a member of the World Presidents' Organization, the Committee of 200 and the International Women's Forum. She is a founding member of the Sy Syms School of Business at Yeshiva University.
She is also on the board of The New York Chapter of the American Heart Association, The Economic Club of New York, the Board of Overseers at Boston University, and is a member of the New Jersey Governor's Economic Growth Council.
She is the past chair of the Small Business and Agricultural Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Past recipients of the Rudin Medal include Wynton Marsalis, James. D. Wolfensohn, John Whitehead, Elizabeth Barlow Rogers, and the late Senator Patrick Moynihan.
