Readymade Garments sector show positive results

It is known fact that out of total exports from Pakistan the leading sector is always textile industry and textile products of different categories and within textile sector Readymade Garments sector is major contributor.
Exporters of this sector have always shown positive results despite of all ups & down and unfavorable conditions and incidence like Last year's May 12th incidence, October 18th & the major incidence of December 27th 2007 and general elections period of February 2008, This was stated by Mr. Bilal Mulla, The Central Chairman of Pakistan Readymade Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association while responding on the comments given by Governor State Bank of Pakistan regarding R&D support funds for textile industry.
Mr. Bilal Mullah said that the official on record figures of Readymade Garments Sector revels that in year ending 2005 the contribution of this sector was $2.7 billion, in year ending June 2006 it goes up to $3.1 billion, in 2007 it was $3.3 billion and despite of all above mentioned hurdles upto February 2008 in current financial year it is more then $2.2 billion.
Mr. Bilal said that $7 billions were invested in Garments Sector in recent years and due to highly labor intensive sector this sector is considered as highest employment generating sector which is need of present crucial time, While presenting figures Mr. Bilal said that in spinning/weaving sector against investment of $1 million 34 jobs are created and results in addition of exports by $270,000/ where as against investment of same amount in garments sector generates 460 jobs and addition of exports of $3.2 million.
