49th National Garment Fair to host six ramp shows

The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) has organized the 49th National Garment Fair FROM 9th July to 11th July 2008 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, NSC Complex, Goregaon (East), Mumbai.

This fair will be the garment industry's largest event of the year. The garment fair will be spread over 25,000 sq. metres in two halls – Hall I & Hall 5 of Bombay Exhibition Centre.

More than 250 companies representing more than 400 brands shall display their collection.

The fair will have sections like Power Brands, Brand Avenue, Brand Wagon, Man's World, Bold & Beautiful, Little Kingdom etc.

There will be also a Franchising Zone, which will help to connect prospective franchises with established national & international brands.

More than 18,000 visitors are expected in this fair, as the fair is restricted to garment dealers only.

National Garment Fair will host 6 ramp shows (fashion shows). There will be 2 shows per day for consecutive 3 days.

CMAI's "Apex Awards 2008" night will be held at on 9th July, 2008, the first night of the 49th National Garment Fair. The awards will be presented in 27 categories, during the glittering function.

Mr. Rahul Mehta, President- The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India & Vice President-Asian Apparel Federation, stated that local garment industry has been passing through a tough phase, still, 15% overall growth rate has been maintained.

On the export front, export is down by 10% in rupee terms but it is 2% up in dollar terms. Presently, export prospects have improved as rupee has weaken against US dollar.
