Export of jeans trouser plummets in April

Strange but true, proceeds from exports of jeans trouser in Vietnam has always declined in April and this was once again proved correct, when revenues recorded a drop in the same period this year.
According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnamese textile and apparel industry exported 225,700 pieces worth US $1.35 million. The turnover reflected a plunge of 5.9 percent in volume and 21.9 percent in value when compared to March this year. However, it rose by 103.6 percent and 107.4 percent respectively on an annual basis.
For the first four months, exports stood at some one million pieces worth $7.57 million, posting a year on year rise of 191.1 percent and 247.1 percent respectively.
Moreover, the export price of the product stood at the lowest level since the beginning of 2008, quoted at $6.01 per piece, FOB on an average in April, down by 17 percent compared to the previous month but surging by 1.9 percent on a yearly basis.
On the other hand, price on average in Jan – April period stood at $7.64 per piece, FOB, rising by 19.2 percent over same period in 2007.
