Sixteen elite Sri Lanka schools swimmers now competing at the 3rd Asian Schools Swimming Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, have received the inspirational support of Brandix Lanka Limited, the country's largest apparel exporter.

At the request of the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association, Brandix has come forward as clothing sponsor for the contingent comprising of eight boys, eight girls and four officials. The championship concludes on July 22.

“We hope this small gesture of support will be a morale booster and provide some extra motivation for these young people to strive harder in their search for performance excellence,” a spokesman for Brandix said.

Schools represented in the team include St. Bridget's Convent, Ladies College, Mahamaya College, Museaus College, Southlands Balika, Royal College, Ananda College, Trinity College, Gateway International and Asian International.

This is the second clothing sponsorship by Brandix this year for a team representing Sri Lanka overseas. In February this year, the company became the clothing sponsor for the Sri Lanka Men's and Women's Golf teams.

Other recent commitments to sport include the sponsorship of an eight-member contingent of exceptional undergraduate athletes from the University of Kelaniya to participate at the World University Games (Universiade) 2007, and support to Sri Lanka's champion weight lifter Chinthana Vidanage and fast bowler Lasith Malinga, both of who are employed by Brandix.
