Barbara Katz to refurbish store with a chic & contemporary look

Celebrating 50 strong years in South Florida retail, clothing giant Barbara Katz is voluntarily closing its doors this summer, demolishing and expanding its entire existing retail facility located at Glades Plaza in Boca Raton for a chic, contemporary 'reinvention' this fall.

The designer specialty store originally founded in 1958 by Barbara Katz plans to reopen its doors early September with a contemporary new brand image and significant brand expansion, incorporating not one, but three exclusive retail shops to be constructed as part of one central Barbara Katz storefront.

The new Barbara Katz will feature a dazzling new modern interior replete with elegant crystal chandeliers, exotic African wood accents and crystallized wall paper featuring muted chartreuse and aqua mist color influences.

A stylish new bar and atrium will also be constructed. Merchandise selection will be expanded to reflect new designer brands from Europe to Los Angeles.

"The overall time for a brand repositioning was right," explains CEO Steve Shullman. "The Barbara Katz brand has long been a popular shopping destination with South Florida residents and snowbirds. However we've found that our local customer is evolving and we're now looking to evolve to suit their new needs.

We'll still be catering to the active baby boomer and retiree, but we'll now be able to cater to their daughters and granddaughters, offering in-demand designer fashion brands and styles that will attract a whole new generation of customers in our area."

Part of Barbara Katz's brand reinvention will include an expanded Suite 602 designer contemporary store. Geared towards attracting the 25 - 45 year old fashion-minded consumer the exciting Suite 602 designer contemporary brand will now double in size and feature its own exclusive VIP entrance for special guests.

The Barbara Katz label will also reemerge with its own dedicated retail space, to feature an expanded selection of sophisticated designer European daywear, playwear and special occasion dressing for fashion-conscious women.

As part of the expansion, Barbara Katz will also introduce the first-ever Basler shop in South Florida. Featuring its own exclusive shopping environment, imported European decor fixtures and merchandising elements will be incorporated to display a striking selection of high quality European fashions, country club casual looks and stylish, tailored European silhouettes. Customers will be able to freely walk in between all three stores for added shopping convenience.

Barbara Katz will also evolve into a 'destination for fashion education' presenting ongoing fashion trunk shows, designer meet and greets and educational fashion networking events planned for customers this fall.

A revamped fashion accessories section will also play a big part. The company will maintain their renowned 11 person on-site alterations department.

Over the course of 50 years, Barbara Katz has outlasted and outpaced the majority of South Florida owned clothing retailers. Founded in 1958, Barbara Katz cultivated a loyal Florida shopping legacy that continues to draw customers from North Miami to Barbara Katz in Boca Raton.

Many area residents recognize and remember Barbara Katz for having possessed an extraordinary talent for merchandising and fashion salesmanship.

The first Barbara Katz retail boutique began in North Miami and additional locations had gradually opened in South Miami and Plantation before settling into its flagship store located at 2200 Glades Road in Glades Plaza, Boca Raton.
