BGA announces winners of Glove Design Competition

The British Glove Association, in collaboration with the Worshipful Company of Glovers, is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 Glove Design Competition.
Glove Design Competition 2008
Sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Glovers
Category 1: Design a glove for a character in a theatrical production or a musical.
First Prize: Chloe Wragg, Loughborough University
Runner Up Lucy James, College of West Anglia
Category 2: Design a pair of gloves for a particular Olympic sport or activity for the 2008 Olympics.
First Prize: Lauren Fedorko, University of Lincoln
Runner Up: Louise Cadman, Sheffield College
Category 3: Design a pair of ladies' or men's fashion gloves for Autumn/Winter 2008.
First Prize: Nancy Rose Taplin, Colchester School of Art
Runner Up: Stephanie Lismore, Colchester School of Art
The Dents Prize for the Most Commercial Design from all entries received:
Danielle Goodman, College of West Anglia
The College making the Greatest Contribution to the Competition: Sheffield College
Safety Poster Competition 2008
John Bennett Prize Fund supported by Bennett Safetywear
First Prize: Tiffany Clewer, Coleg Sir Gâr
Runner-up: Sarah Morley, Walsall College
The College producing the Greatest Contribution to the Competition: Coleg Sir Gâr
The competition has now been running since 1975. Its purpose is to encourage students to create practical yet original glove designs. The judges look for designs that show a commercial aspect in respect of the ease of manufacture and sell-ability.
The Worshipful Company of Glovers is one of the ancient livery companies that once controlled and regulated their craft in the City of London. Nowadays, whilst continuing to retain strong links with their original trades, they are active in maintaining the traditions of the City and support education and charities in the wider community.
