Seattle-based Nordstrom Inc announced it will open a 35,400-square-foot Nordstrom Rack, a unit of the company's off-price retail division, at Orland Park Place in Orland Park, Ill., in spring 2009.

"Orland Park Place is a great shopping center with a strong mix of tenants, and we're thrilled to be a part of it," said Scott Meden, president of Nordstrom Rack. "We're excited to have an opportunity to serve more customers in the greater Chicago area and we look forward to offering outstanding value on name-brand merchandise for the entire family."

"We are pleased to welcome Nordstrom Rack, which adds another premier specialty retailer to Orland Park Place," said Scott Carr, president, Inland Commercial Property Management Inc. "The strong tenant mix at Orland Park Place continues to drive its popularity as a shopping destination for Chicago's south suburbs, and Nordstrom Rack is an ideal fit with the center's other high quality retailers."

Orland Park Place, owned by Inland Real Estate Corporation through a joint venture, is the market dominant regional power center in south suburban Orland Park, one of Chicagoland's fastest growing trade areas.

The existing shopping center, located at 153rd and LaGrange Road in Orland Park, encompasses over 599,000-square-feet of retail space, featuring premier national retailers and restaurants, including: Bed, Bath & Beyond, Barnes & Noble, Dick's Sporting Goods, Marshall's, Office Depot, Olive Garden, Sports Authority and many others. Nordstrom Rack will open in the space formerly occupied by Wickes Furniture.

This will be the retailer's sixth Nordstrom Rack store in the greater Chicago area. Nordstrom operates Rack stores at The Shops at State and Washington in Chicago, Village Square in Northbrook, The Shops at Oakbrook Place in Oakbrook, Woodfield Village Green in Schaumburg and a new store at Springbrook Prairie Pavilion in Naperville is scheduled to open in fall 2008. Nordstrom also operates four full-line stores in Illinois.

Nordstrom Rack is the company's off-price retail division offering savings of 30 to 70 percent on apparel and accessories for women, men and children, including one of the most extensive collections of name-brand shoes available. Nordstrom Rack merchandise is made up of products from Nordstrom full-line stores and the company's online store at Nordstrom.com, as well as special purchase items.
