Bras to protect policewomen against bullet

Aug '08
Thousands of policewomen in Germany will now be protected against serious injuries, as special bras have been issued to them to be worn under bullet proof vests.

Sources informed Fibre2fashion that, the bras are white and made from cotton or polyester and are thickly padded. They also have the word 'Polizei' printed along the seam.

The impact of a bullet can push the metal and plastic bits of the bra into the body of the police officer, which can result in serious wounds when bullet hits.

However, these new bras do not have under-wire or metal fasteners that can get into flesh on impact with a bullet. These look similar to sports bras but have the capacity to protect the wearer from getting wounded.

The officers are now equipped with three of these special bras as a part of their uniform. Nearly three thousand front line policewomen are encouraged to wear it at the time of duty.
