Export earning from Jean trousers mounts up

Jeans and trousers export fetched US $4.7 million while exporting around 570 thousand units in the month of June. Vietnam registered an increase over 100 percent in terms of value and by 67.1 percent volumewise when compare with May 2008.

For first six months of the ongoing year, the country exported 1.9 million units of jeans and trouser worth $14.7 million, depicting a year-on-year gain of 75.7 percent in volume and 93.3 percent in value.

In the period from January to June, Vietnam was able to accelerate exports to Japan, making it one of the biggest exporting market for the country, that accounted for 45.2 percent of total export. Near about 683,000 units, worth $6.6 million, were exported to Japan, showing rise by 166.8 percent and 135.7 percent respectively over same period last year.

As far as US market is concerned, the graph moved upward. Vietnam exported 622,000 units of Jeans and trousers, worth $3.6 million demonstrating growth of 165 percent in terms of volume and 178.4 percent increase in value.

On the other hand, Taiwan market depicted downfall by 21.8 percent in term of volume. A total of 171,000 units for $1.8 million were exported to that region. However, Vietnam garnered 6.2 percent surge in terms of value from the Taiwanese market.
